This working environment is home for most of the farm workers in Harare. Though not safe and working without protective clothing, the farm workers remain loyal to their employers. There are a number of health and occupational hazards that most employees are subjected to. Most of the workers are not trained on how to use the equipment, employers are not applying standard safety system for workers, especially on jobs that are potential to cause harm to the user.
As basic a need and right, there is no adequate access of water and the water is not safe for the residence to drink. In most farms, the water points are few compared to the demand. The farms residences are grossly populated. There is limited access to health services and schools. Most clinics were closed during the farm invasions; hence the workers are getting services from as far as more than 20 kilometres.
